Art (2016 -17)
We will start the term, studying Victorian silhouettes. The children will draw the profile of their learning partners and create a small silhouette. They will use marbling ink to create a mottled pattern for the background; use a compass to create a frame for their artwork.
Victorian Architecture
On Monday 6th & Tuesday 7th the children are heading out into the local area armed with clipboards and paper. We will be looking at the different features of the terraced and villa housing along Bulwer Road, West Avenue, Montague Road and Clarendon Park Road. The children will be sketching chimney stacks, windows, finials, red tile patterns and other decorative features. They will then re-creative one feature using watercolours.
William Morris
During Spring Term 2, we will be studying the designs of William Morris. Morris was a revolutionary designer of the Victorian error. Famous for his furniture, wallpaper and fabric designs; which are still popular today.
The children will be studying the style of his patterns, many of which repeat, and will be creating designs in his style. They will also be using ink to print.
More information on William Morris can be found on his website and at his museum. Follow the link below....
