Sight words are the most commonly used words.

 

The strategy for learning sight words is, "See the word, say the word."

 

Help your child to recognise sight words.  Cut out the words on the side of the sheet and show them to your child.  Start from 'Rocket 1' and then move on to 'Rocket 2'. Once they recognise  most or all of the sight words on the sheet, move on to the next sheet.

 

We will be teaching sight words at school and we look out for them in books and in the environment too, such as on signs.  Sometimes the Sight Word Rocket sheets will be in your child's target book for you to look at with them.
