As part of our Creative Curriculum topic ‘Amazing Animals’ we will be going on a farm trip in the Spring term! The children are already very excited and looking forward to this experience. If you would like to come along to help out on the day please speak to Miss Kaur, Mrs Kirkland or Mrs Blood.
This half term we will be learning about stories based on animals and revisit nouns, adjectives and verbs. We will be discussing characters, behaviours and appearances. The children will write their own animal stories using good descriptive and story language. We will also be exploring the features of a non-fiction book and gathering information to write a non-chronological report.
Please continue to practise reading and spelling the high frequency words, days of the week, months of the year, colours and numbers one to twenty. You can find resources to help you in the grammar pack handed out in the Autumn term. We are continuing to learn our phonics and apply our sounds in our reading and writing.
In Maths we will be focusing on number facts. This includes number facts to 5, 10, 20 and 100, 10 more/10 less, word problems and understanding addition is the inverse (opposite) of subtraction.
We will also be learning about measuring.
In Science we will be building on our learning about Animals. The children will be learning about carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. We will also be describing and comparing animals.
