Summer 1
Kings and Queens
History
In History we are going to be learning all about the Kings and Queens of England. We will also be using different sources of information to find out about significant historical events, places and people in our own locality.
Science
In Science we will be learning about materials. The children will be designing and building a castle for a King or Queen! They will need to name, use and describe a variety of everyday materials including wood, plastic, glass, metal and rock. The children will learn to describe their castles using the appropriate language.
English
This half term we will be learning about stories with a traditional setting. We will also be looking at non-fiction texts. We will be reading, writing and following instructions to make, amongst other things, a delicious, healthy breakfast for the Queen.
Maths
The children will continue to develop their problem solving skills this term, solving problems involving multiplication and division.
We will be learning about the relationship between subtraction and addition whilst exploring the inverse operation.
We will also be learning to name 2D and 3D shapes and to identify their properties.
REMINDER!
Please ensure your child continues to brings their book bag to school on the day that they read as this ensures that their books get to and from school in the most efficient manner. Each class has an updated and clearly displayed list of reading days.
