Over the two-year rolling topics, each area of Design and Technology is covered and linked to our Geography or History topic. D&T projects can be taught over a series of lessons over several weeks or can be blocked over two or three days/afternoon sessions. During each project, the children are taken on a Design and Technology journey where the following areas are covered:

• Introduction to project involving a Design Brief and purpose
• Evaluation of existing products and looking at designers
• Design process including equipment and materials needed
• Learning and practicing new skills/making a prototype
• Making a final product
• Evaluating and improving product

Over the year, there are additional opportunities for the children to get involved in D & T projects such as during our Farmer’s Markets and our whole school Architects Day!
