Avenue Primary School

Where learning springs to life

PSHE (inc Anti-Bullying and RSE

PSHE (personal, social and health education) provides us with skills that help us build respectful and understanding relationships. It helps to develop a sense of self-worth. It also teaches us how to be healthy, independent and responsible members of society. PSHE provides us with life skills to help us in later life with our families, jobs and financial stability and how to be part of a wider community.

At Avenue Primary School we aim to develop healthy, independent and responsible members of society. We encourage all our pupils to play a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community through the learning council, fundraising events, supporting nominated charities and involvement in community activities.

Our pupils are given opportunities in PSHE lessons using the Cambridgeshire Scheme of work and assemblies to develop confidence, self-motivation and an understanding of their rights and responsibilities within our diverse society.

In addition to this each year group is taught about the different types of bullying e.g. emotional, physical, cyber and verbal.

Whole school assemblies are led through the year to remind children of what bullying is, how we can prevent it and who to tell if a child is being bullied.

We also have visitors such as theatre groups and the police to discuss bullying issues.

Each year we take part in the national anti-bullying week and children take part in a range of activities linked to anti-bullying.

Anti-bullying Junior Champions 2020/2021:

These children will support Miss Spencer (Anti-bullying Champion/Lead) to develop and improve the ways we prevent and support bullying issues. The junior champions will share information about their work in the school newsletter.

If you are worried that your child is being bullied, please talk to your child’s class teacher. This will be recorded in the class anti-bullying book and actions will be discussed with you. For more information see our anti-bullying policy.

More support and information is also available from these providers:
